Our Mission
Advocate
By talking to local businesspeople, educators and government officials about the benefits of Linux and Open Source.
Educate
By holding regular public educational meetings and demonstrations, by coordinating on-and-off-line volunteer tutoring and assistance on Linux and Open Source software alternatives. We will coordinate with local schools and colleges to promote Linux education at all ages and experience levels.
Certify
By collaborating with nationally and internationally recognized Linux certification authorities to train, assess and certify our membership.
Diversify
By reaching out to people and communities who are less likely to use Linux and have fewer opportunities to learn, in order to diversify the Linux user base and workforce in our region.
Empower
By enabling users to increase their control of their own systems and manage their own data for their own purposes, free of onerous licenses, and with the option to use free or paid software solutions as they see fit.
Employ
By helping members network and connect with Linux and Open Source employers in our region, and raise awareness among employers considering relocation to Indiana that our region has a large, diverse and growing pool of Linux and Open source users and professionals.
Socialize
By holding regular social outings and maintaining a social media presence to support and provide a social network for local Linux users and professionals.
Celebrate
By holding an annual Northeast Indiana Linux Fest, mostly for fun, but also mindful that everything we do is in furtherance of the above goals.
